About Us
Tea entrepreneur David Zhou (originally from Shanghai, China) is the founder of the Oriental Tea House and also owns the very successful David’s Restaurant. Click here to view the David’s Restaurant website.
The business started with a small tea shop on Chapel Street in Prahran about 15 years ago. It sold tea blends created by David.
In 2004 the first Oriental Tea House opened at 455 Chapel Street, South Yarra, and then in 2005 a second store opened in the city on Little Collins Street. We quickly outgrew the city store and in 2007 moved 100 metres up the road to huge new premises. November 2008 will see a third store opening at Chadstone shopping centre (in the new outdoor section) and further 3 stores are slotted to open before the end of 2009.
We provide handmade dumplings and dim sum from the authentic Chinese dumpling masters, wine, and rare and fragrant teas.
Yum Cha means ‘to drink tea’ and refers to the custom of eating tiny servings of different foods while sipping some well-brewed Chinese Tea. When most people think of Yum Cha they think Sunday lunch time, but the Oriental Tea House stands apart, serving Yum Cha all through the day, seven days a week; so now guests can get their Yum Cha fix any time!
Oriental Tea House is not only a restaurant but also a retail shop (situated at the front of the stores) where you can purchase and try over 80 delicious hand blended teas. We also offer a great range of Oriental tea ware, designed to accentuate the wonderful properties of each individual tea.
We love tea and Chinese food, and we want to share it with tea and food lovers around the world. We have been enjoying these authentic teas and meals for generations, and we hope you enjoy them too. |
