Vanilla Sencha
ABOUT THE TEA:
A slightly bitter tea is tamed with seductively sweet creamy vanilla making for an irresistible taste combination.
The reputed medicinal properties of this green tea abound, but this tea also helps to clear the mind and enhance concentration.
According to the International Ice Cream Association, Vanilla is by far the most popular flavor, getting a full 23% of all ice cream consumption. Inspired by this creamy and dreamy flavour, Oriental Tea House combines the rich, warm dark sugar aroma of vanilla with delicate Chinese green tea to make a very soothing, sweet and vanilla fragranced tea.
Perfect to drink with warm sugar cookies or shortbread!
INTERESTING FACTS REGARDING TEA:
The reputed medicinal properties of this green tea are broad, but this tea also helps to clear the mind and enhance concentration.
The Chinese have known about the medicinal benefits of green tea since ancient times, using it to treat everything from headaches to depression.
The University of Purdue researchers recently concluded that a compound in green tea inhibits the growth of cancer cells. There is also research indicating that drinking green tea lowers total cholesterol levels, as well as improving the ratio of good (HDL) cholesterol to bad (LDL) cholesterol.
The secret of green tea lies in the fact it is rich in catechin polyphenols, particularly epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). EGCG is a powerful anti-oxidant: besides inhibiting the growth of cancer cells, it is known to kill cancer cells without harming healthy tissue.
Green, oolong, and black teas all come from the leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant. What sets green tea apart is the way it is processed. Green tea leaves are steamed, which prevents the EGCG compound from being oxidized
Vanilla beans are the fruit of an orchid which blooms for only one day each year. Because of this, and also because the flowers must be hand-pollinated, vanilla is the second most expensive spice on earth, after saffron.
HOW TO BREW:
Add 360ml of boiling water to 1-2 teaspoons of tea and brew for 3-5 minutes. Serve as is. Refill with boiling water up to 3 times. Store in a cool dry place. Serve in our ‘Longevity Tea Pot‘

The green tea is a little bitter at first but the vanilla blends the bitterness out with its sweetness. This is not an everyday tea but something I feel you could consume after main course to accompany your dessert. I like this tea as it is not overpoweringly sweet.

I recently tried the Vanilla Sencha tea. It is a green tea with a beautiful hint of vanilla.
I really like to drink it after dinner instead of grabbing something like a bar of chocolate or a bowl of ice cream.
Delicious!!

So true Janni, the perfect hit of sweetness!

Though green tea has caffeine which btsoos your metabolism, studies show that actually has about half the amount of caffeine that green tea has, yet contributes more to due to its polyphenols.

Vanilla Sencha- great on hot days as well as cooler days. I loved having it around 3 o’clock each day when my sweet tooth would sing out- the taste of the sweet vanilla always hit the spot. With the health benefits of green tea though, i never had to feel guilty

Yes, the perfect sweet drink, but try it with a cookie if you dare!

The aroma of this tea is amazing making it the ideal tea for Autumn or Spring. Very subtle notes of vanilla take away the bitterness of the sencha making it ideal for people who want to drink a green tea but do not want the after taste that green teas are well known for. There is just enough vanilla not to overpower it. A beautiful tasting tea that is best served in the afternoon or as a dessert tea. Perfect with a slice of cake or some biscuits

Oh yes Fluer, you should try it with a vanilla shortbread! Bliss!

Green tea is one reason why older generation Asians look so good and are so healthy. Although it is more due to their high carbohydrate diet of rice, veggies and fruits!
